Heupel Law was founded by Kevin D. Heupel. Kevin has extensive litigation and legal experience. Immediately after law school, Kevin served as an assistant attorney general for Colorado Attorney Generals Gail Norton and Ken Salazar. Kevin prosecuted a variety of cases where he honed his litigation and negotiation skills. As a result, Kevin is well versed in formulating trial strategies to resolve complex cases.
Kevin primarily practices in the areas of DUI, consumer bankruptcy, estate planning, administrative law and professional licensing defense. Kevin is a popular speaker and presenter at regulatory conferences throughout the United States and an author for a variety of trade magazines.
Prior to practicing law, Kevin was a corporate accountant prior to entering law school. His legal and accounting experience enables him to understand his client’s issues in order to find appropriate and practical solutions. Kevin has two sons and is an avid golfer and skier.
Matt Shimanek has had a diverse legal career. Mr. Shimanek is a licensed attorney in Colorado, North Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, and Montana. He has held associate positions in prestigious law firms and public positions in city and county governments. Matt specializes in bankruptcy, collection abuse, DUI, foreclosure avoidance, administrative law, and small business issues. Matt has handled a variety of litigation issues in state and federal court. In addition to his legal experience, Matt has held board positions with the Dakota Resource Council and the Citizens for Affordable Renewable Energy. Matt has three children and enjoys the mountains whether it’s back country skiing or hiking.
Suzanne Pariser is an attorney with Heupel Law. Ms. Pariser specializes in bankruptcy, elder law, and violations of the Fair Debt Collections and Practices Act (“FDCPA”). Ms. Pariser graduated from the University of Denver School of Law. Prior to law school, Ms. Pariser obtained a BA in Environmental Policy from Middlebury College. After law school, Ms. Pariser had the distinction to clerk for the Honorable Judge Fasing in Arapahoe County District Court. Ms. Pariser handles all of the Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases for Heupel Law. Suzanne has two daughters and is an accomplished skier and biker.
Drew Bussler is the office manager at Heupel Law and helps clients. Mr. Bussler has a broad range of experience ranging from insurance, financial products, and health care before joining Heupel Law. Drew is fluent in Spanish, enjoys playing competitive basketball, and is an avid golfer. Drew attended Hope College in Holland, MI, and graduated with a BA in management. Drew’s most defining moment was living in Central America for six months where he traveled and learned Spanish.
Andrea Browne is the call center supervisor and handles all of the clients payments. Andrea has been a central contact for the clients at Heupel Law for several years. Prior to Heupel Law, Andrea worked for a criminal attorney in New Mexico and has more than ten years of legal experience. She has two children, enjoys country music, and is an avid Broncos fan. Her compassionate demeanor is appreciated by all of our clients.
Stacey Ballow is a paralegal at Heupel Law and handles all of the post Chapter 7 work and Chapter 13 plans, amendments, modifications, and confirmation pleadings. Ms. Ballow has worked several years for other bankruptcy and debt negotiation firms including Chapter 7 Trustees Jeffrey Hill, Jeanne Jagow, and Janice Steinlee. Stacey has three daughters; enjoys vintage whiskey; plays the piano; enjoys water sports, bike riding, and hiking; spending time with her children, family and friends; and dreams of someday skydiving.
Tami Barton is a debt relief consultant at Heupel Law. Tami is the first point of contact and helps our clients determine whether a potential should seek credit counseling, engage in debt settlement, or file bankruptcy. After which, she educates clients about the bankruptcy process, the differences between Chapters 7 and 13, and provides options to clients who are considering bankruptcy. Ms. Barton also helps clients with discharging, consolidating, or lowering their student loan payments. Prior to joining Heupel Law, Ms. Barton has been a business owner, real estate agent, and national sales trainer. She is a graduate from Boise State University. Next to having two beautiful children, Tami’s most defining moment was climbing Mount Kilimanjaro on a charity climb that raised over $80,000 for an orphanage in Kenya.
Tiffany Cadwell is a paralegal at Heupel Law and is originally from Red Wing, Minnesota. Tiffany graduated with a BS in Health Sciences from Brigham Young University. She recently received her graduate certificate in Public Health from the University of Colorado. Tiffany has a 10-year old Golden Retriever named Koby. Tiffany enjoys yoga, backpacking, hiking, and biking. Tiffany dreams to someday to backpack the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine.
Jason Guerrin is a paralegal who drafts and files the bankruptcy petitions for Heupel Law. Jason is originally from Holland, Michigan and now calls Colorado home as he enjoys the outdoors: bow hunting, fishing, snowboarding, and golf. Jason attended Grand Valley State University and received a BA in Natural Resources Management. Prior to joining Heupel Law, Jason worked as an aquatics biology technician for the Division of Wildlife, State of Colorado.
Megan Harper is the receptionist at the main office and the student loan paralegal. Ms. Harper helps clients with student loan discharge applications, curing defaults, and establishing income-based payment plans for people who can’t afford their current student loan payments. Prior to joining Heupel Law, Megan was a pre-school teacher. Megan graduated from Regis University with a BA in communications and has a MS from Cardinal Stritch University. Megan enjoys playing piano, writing, and photography.
Serena Perez is a legal assistant in the call center. Serena answers a variety of questions for our clients to help them through the legal process. Serena graduated from Heritage College with an Associates Degree. Serena has three kids, enjoys writing, and spending time with her family. Serena’s most defining moment is graduating from college while raising a family and working full time.
